The PCBSD project as stated in a recent announcement by Kris Moore has confirmed that the next version of PCBSD will fully utilize the recently released FreeBSD 7. With all the goodies FreeBSD 7 has in store for users, you can be sure PCBSD will take FreeBSD on the desktop to the next level.
Other than FreeBSD 7, PCBSD users should anticipate the new release because of the new KDE 4.1 Desktop Environment. KDE 4.1 is set to revolutionize Graphical user interfaces both in the Open Source and Proprietary operating systems arena. At the same time, the PCBSD project has announced that its PBI builder software has been updated so that developers can now build Pc Bsd Installer (also known as PBI's) for the new upcoming PCBSD release.
